Three months into my Ph.D. study at Cornell University, Elvis seriously thought about quitting the program.

In 2022, Elvis co-authored “Navigating mental health challenges in graduate school” on Nature Reviews Materials to share his extreme lows in graduate school and to call for awareness of mental health issues among graduate students, especially those from minority groups. This effort was recently featured in “Stress and uncertainty drag down graduate students’ satisfaction” on Nature to call for institutional support for those suffering in graduate school.
